Pimento, Sweet Cherry

C. annuum. Non-pungent, cherry type. Fruit matures from green to dark red. Fruit almost round with corking on the skin. Pendant. Subtle flavor; slightly sweet. Thick skin. Large number of seeds per fruit. Fruit 1.3-1.6" long, 1.2-1.4" wide, and 0.5-0.8oz. Plants 1-2' tall; erect; sparsely branched. Green leaves and stems with purple nodes. Average productivity; severe lodging; early maturing; split fruit common when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. SSE Accession # 117139
