C. argyrosperma. Necked fruit are cream colored, but some fruit have a more straight shape profile. Skin is very smooth and slight ribbing at the stem end. Fruit measure 19-22 inches long, 7.75-10.5 inches wide, and weigh up to 40 pounds. Flesh is very pale orange and about 1.5 inches thick. Plants are highly vining. Dry matter content 6.69. BRIX reading 6.0. Fruit infected by gummy stem blight. Average productivity and mid season maturing when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Variea Bachman. It's been grown near Loda, IL since at least the 1950s when Bachman acquired the variety from her mother-in-law, Lena Bachman. Used in squash pie and likely grown by Lena prior to 1950.
