WINTER
Long, slender, curved roots have a purple blush, darkest at the top. Color fades towards the towards the base, with some roots being solid white about halfway down. Color is not uniform between roots. Roots grow up to 6 inches above the soil line and measure up to 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Numerous root hairs and prominent lateral root scars make this radish look a little rough. Roots are a little bitter with thick skin. Slightly spicy. White flesh. Some roots develop a pithy core. This is a fall/winter radish with large leaves. Leaves are dark grey-green, smooth, highly lobed, and reach 20 inches long. Give this radish plenty of space. SSE Accession # 118621
