VEGETABLES / RUTABAGA
Yellow roots with green tops. Round to elliptic in shape. 3-5.5" long, 1.5-3.5" wide. Cooked roots have a strong brassica flavor and are dense with a slightly fibrous texture. Plants are prostrate growing and small with short leaves. Donated to SSE in 1998 by Clive Blazey of The Diggers Club in Australia. He received this variety in 1998 from Mrs. Hjortman-Punbbinen, an elderly Finnish seed saver in Yosemite, NSW, Australia. This accession was previously distributed by SSE incorrectly as a turnip, but botanically, it is a rutabaga. SSE Accession # 127689
