Tennessee Cutshort

Single Image
VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-POLE
This bean is an heirloom from my wife, Jerreth's family in Salem, IL. It was brought back from somewhere in TN, back in the 1950s and grown by her great Aunt Clara. We received seed in 1986. Tender podded string bean of pole habit. Our main crop for fresh eating and canning. Seed is large and "Kentucky Wonder tan" in color. This is not a true cutshort, in that the seed is not crammed together in the pod. Occasionally a squared off end will appear in the seed, but generally, this bean has rounded seed. Will grow to 10' on support. By the end of the season most of the beans and foliage will congregate at the top of the support. Bears in a approximately 70 days. If kept watered will bear enough for fresh eating until frost. White flowers, green pods.
