VEGETABLES / LETTUCE
HEAD
An unusual leaf lettuce. Plants look like green pom-poms with tufts of narrow, lobed leaves. Leaves are toothed and form a dense central rosette. Crisp texture, mild flavor. Plants reached 4.5-6" tall and 12-13" wide in our 2016 planting at Heritage Farm. This variety is very quick to bolt in the heat and should be grown in late fall. Black seeds. Donated to SSE in the 1980s by R. George Pierides of Alexandria, VA who indicated the variety is from Luray, VA. SSE Accession # 111583
