VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-POLE
Pole/dry. Large, meaty beans are sweet and have good flavor. Holds well when cooked. Moderately climbing plants have pink flowers. Immature green pods are wide with a long beak. Fully expanded pods measure 5.6-6.5" long and 0.5-0.6" wide. Mature pods are pale yellow with a bright pink dash pattern. 3-4 seeds per pod. Large seeds are buff colored with a maroon dash pattern. Moderately low productivity when grown on Heritage Farm in 2018. Dry pods in early September. Donated to SSE in 2004 by Everett Henson (NH HE E) of North Haverhill, New Hampshire. Henson received this variety from his neighbor, Mrs. Elsie Church, and named the bean after her because it's been in her family for decades. SSE Accession # 105510
