Organic Listing
Indeterminate. Regular leaf. Mid-season. Large, flat, smooth to mildly lobed pink-red beefsteak fruit up to 1 lb. Flavor is mild and sweet with classic tomato flavor. According to its original sales literature, it is an heirloom discovered in home gardens near the Caspian Sea in Russia in 1992 by a Petoseed Company employee shortly after the Cold War ended. It was introduced to the North American gardening public in 1999. Ripe when the shoulders turn pink. Notably, Pink Caspian has earned the title "Queen of the Pinks" due to being the first and only tomato to have beaten Brandywine in the California taste test trials... several times. Also, a heavier and more reliable producer for me than Pink Brandywine in my garden, and much less prone to uneven ripening and sunscald. Ergo... more great tasting tomatoes. Spring it on all your Brandywine-loving friends! 80 days.
