Bush bean, 8-13" tall. Green stems and leaves. Light pink flowers. Pods green when flat, yellow with red blush and stripes at shelling stage. Pods are pear-shaped in cross section, straight, with medium, straight beaks. Mature pods 3.5-4.5" long, 0.5-0.7" wide. Tender snap bean when flat, inedible when fully expanded. 2-5 seeds per pod. Seeds marbled, cream base with maroon pattern. Dry beans have a slightly smoky, sweet flavor and smooth texture. Mid-season maturity when grown in 2013 at Heritage Farm. This variety was originally developed by Mr. Cony Grant who farmed near Solon, Maine. Mr. Grant died in the 1930s when he was in his eighties. The beans have since been maintained by several local families including Davis, Adams and Robinson. Mr. Clayton Davis shared seeds with SSE member Russell Libby (ME LI R2), who began offering the variety in the 1992 SSE Exchange. SSE Accession # 103771
