Feuer Kugel

Garden type. Leaves green-red with red veining. Petioles red. Roots shallow in soil. Roots are round to elliptic with smooth red skin. Flesh is solid dark purple. Roots are 2-3" long and 1.75-2.5" in diameter and weigh 2-4 oz. Cooked beets are slightly sweet, but with a bitter/astringent aftertaste. SSE Accession # 106443
