Honeydew, Turkish

Inodorous melon. This melon has a very unique flavor! The white flesh is very juicy and refreshing, though slightly bland. It is very seedy. The flesh is 1.5" thick and the rind is medium thick at 0.5". The fruit is pyriform with a small neck. The surface is bumpy, except at the neck where it is finely wrinkled. The fruit are light yellow-green with raised dark green mottles at maturity. They measure 7" wide, 10-11" long, and 9-11 lbs. The fruit does not slip from the vine when it is ripe. Low productivity. Given to SSE by Lawrence Gladfelter (MO GL L) who obtained this variety from a friend of a friend; originally from Turkey. SSE Accession # 112910
