C. pepo. Pumpkin. Fruit oblate with smooth slightly ribbed pale orange to orange skin. Market mature fruit 7.5-10" long, 7-11.5" in diameter, and 6-13 lbs. Flesh color light orange-yellow and 1-2.25" thick. Intermediate productivity, late maturing, and prone to anthracnose when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. A good sized pumpkin for decorations and carving. Not recommended for eating; very moist, stringy, and bland. Vine, leaves large 30-35 cm, distinct lobes, slight silvering on leaves, rough pubescence. Acquired by SSE from Vesey's Seeds. Many sources refer to this variety as pre-dating 1700. It is offered by name in the 1825 seed catalog of G. Thorburn & Son (New York). SSE Accession # 120115
