More savoyed leaves than classic Genovese basil and lighter green in color. Stronger anise flavor than Genovese with more of a bite. Would make pesto with big flavor. SSE member Amy Forstrom (CT FO A) received this variety in about 1984 from her brother-in-law. It's originally from his Italian family in Massachusetts, the Barbere family, and grown by his grandmother. Forstrom donated it to SSE in 1994. SSE Accession # 111064
