Vines with prostrate and climbing tendencies. Violet flowers. Purple pigment at base and tip of petioles and tips of pods. Straight, pendant pods, 6-8" long by 0.4" wide. Ovoid seeds with a bluish-purple mottle over a cream background; dark eyes. 13-18 seeds per pod. Dry cowpeas have a good, slightly sweet flavor. Standard productivity. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by John Coykendall (TN CO J). He obtained it from Clinton Miley of Washington Parish, LA who received seed from a Pigott descendant.
