Iris domestica, Belamcanda chinensis. Self-seeding perennial, easily grown from seed scratched into surface of bare soil. Best results in full sun. Plant in fall for flowers the following July. 4' tall by 1' wide. Light blue-green foliage. Each flower stalk bears multiple vivid orange/red/magenta speckled flowers. Flowers for 6-8 weeks, followed by blackberry-like seed clusters. Drought tolerant. Grows well in dry clay soils. From Monticello, 2004.
