Lion's Tongue

A dark green deer tongue lettuce. Leaves are smooth and form a neat rosette in the center. Crisp, juicy, and sweet with thick midribs, relatively tender, not bitter. Plants reached 7-10" tall and 9-11" wide in 2014 growout at Heritage Farm. Standard bolting resistance. Black seed. Donated to SSE in the 1980s by Bernadine Sander of Moberly, MO.
