Butterhead. Good flavor, moderately bitter; crunchy and buttery texture. Yellow green leaves with smooth edges and low surface blistering. Plants uniform; circular and measure 6.7-7.0" high and 11.8-13.8" in diameter. Moderate head solidity. Leaves obovate and measure 6.3-7.5" long and 6.7-9.4" wide. Mid season bolting tendency. Donated to SSE by June Kirkton. Passed down from June's grandmother, Lavina (Augspurger) Sharp. Brought to the U.S. from Switzerland by the Augspurger family who were Amish-Mennonite.
