Pole habit snap bean. Fat and juicy, slightly astringent, good flavor, stringy. Strongly climbing pigmented plants have purple flowers. Green pods mature to yellow pods with a purple blush and striped pattern. Fully expanded pods measure 6.2-8.5" long and 0.4-0.6" wide. Mature pods slightly curved. Medium kidney shaped seeds are cream/beige with tan flecks and black stripes. Hard seeded. Moderately low productivity and early to mid season maturing when grown in 2017 at Heritage Farm. Christine Norvell (TX NO C) donated this variety to SSE in the 1990s. She received it from Powell Smith of Galivants Ferry, South Carolina via a magazine seed swap. This variety reportedly dates to the early 1900s. SSE Accession # 104545
