Malabar Spinach, Red

AKA "Vine Spinach", "Ceylon Spinach" and "Indian Spinach". An edible, tender perennial vine grown as an annual in cold climates. Fast-growing, soft-stemmed vines reaching up to 33 feet long. Thick, semi-succulent heart-shaped leaves have a mild flavor and mucilaginous texture. Stem is reddish-purple; the leaves form green and as the plant reaches maturity, older leaves will develop a purple pigment starting at the base of the leaf and work towards the end. Extremely heat resistant. Self seeds. 70 days.
