Caudell Heirloom #2

Single Image
VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-POLE
Strongly climbing pole. Good flavor as both snap and dry bean. Snap beans are very sweet. Dry beans taste nutty and sweet with a smooth texture. Pods long, green, strongly constricted, and curved at the tip. Strong suture string. Pods measure 5-7" long. Pods contain 7-8 oval; medium sized seeds with a tan and brown striped pattern. Hard seeded. White flowers. Late maturing snap beans. This accession has some purity issues. Some plants produce shorter, straighter pods. If you are saving seed, do not save seed from these off-type plants. Rogue them as soon as you notice them. In 1995, Erwin Caudell of Manchester, Kentucky shared this variety with SSE before he transitioned to a nursing home. SSE Accession # 104351
