Clay

Plants are tall and bushy with runners that twine around each other in an attempt to climb upwards. Does well on a trellis. Pods are short (4-7 inches), slender, and dark green with 10-16 seeds per pod. Seeds are very small, slightly elongated and clay-colored, hence its name. As a dry pea, the flavor is mild and slightly earthy with a grainy texture. Commonly 2-3 pods per peduncle. Flowers are pale purple. SSE Accession # 108830
