VEGETABLES / CORN
DENT
Dent corn. Ears are small to very large, but are generally very wide in diameter. Ears 4.75-9" long and 1.5-2" wide. Some plants form double, triple, quadruple or even quintuple ears. Kernels are dent and red with a yellow top. The red color of the kernels varies from dark red (30%) to light red (30%) to almost orange (40%). The yellow color also varies from light to dark yellow. Kernels are somewhat large and flat in the middle of the ear to rounded toward the tip and base. Cobs are white (20%) to red (80%). The white cobs are exclusive to the lighter color red kernels, but the lighter colored red kernels also have red cobs. 12-15 straight kernel rows. Stems green and purple. Leaves pendant with moderate surface area. Plants 7-8.5' tall. Low amount of lodging, little ear damage, and mid season maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm.
