VEGETABLES / LETTUCE
HEAD
Grown in 2017 by Seed Savers Exchange member Stephanie Van Parys from Decatur, GA as part of the Citizen Science Corps Program. This lettuce has deep red burgundy obovate shaped leaves that are ruffled and frilled. Leaf margin is highly toothed. The plants showed great vigor and leaves can be harvested several times during the growing season. The taste is slightly bitter and adds interest to the taste, but flavor mellows once harvested. It is crunchy, but not crisp and has a nice texture. Grown in spring and fall in Decatur. 42 days to full head. SSE Accession # 111587
