P. ussuriensis, commonly used as a very hardy rootstock for Asian pears, long-lived stock could be tried for an interstem to enhance hardiness, compatibility and disease resistance, large tree is attractive in bloom, small fruit is not suitable for eating, scionwood only, no rootstock available at this time, but the hardwood cuttings (scions) may, with proper care, be rooted.
