VEGETABLES / LIMA-BEAN
POLE
Pole lima. Very large seeds have a white to very pale green background and a burgundy colored pattern. Excellent eating qualities; robust flavor, smooth texture, slightly sweet. Plants have white flowers and shattering pods. Large pods have 3 seeds and measure 3.75-4.75 inches long and about 1 inch wide. Very late maturing. Low harvest when grown in 2016 at Heritage Farm due to short season. Donated to SSE by Glenn Cooper (MA CO G2) who acquired this variety in 1991 from Merlyn and Mary Ann Niedens (IL NI M). The Niedens selected it from a cross of Dr. Martin and Christmas lima. A variety by this name has been exchanged in the SSE Yearbook Exchange for at least 20 years. SSE Accession # 112731
