Azure Star

Solid purple stems. Attractive plants with purple petioles and leaf midveins; dark green leaves. Elliptical leaf shape with upright to horizontal leaf angle. Stems have a tendency to split and scab. Most stems have a short stem, with a minority sitting on the ground (sessile). Market mature bulbs measure 1.4-2.6" long by 2.6-3.6" in diameter. Plants reach 7-11" tall and 1.5-2.5' wide at market maturity. Good flavor and texture; sweet, crunchy and juicy; slightly fibrous. SSE Accession # 111278
