Sleeping Beauty

Plants produce a good number of relatively small, flattened, and netted fruit. Ripe fruit are cream-colored with green stripes down the ribs. Fruit measure 3.5-4.5" long, 3.5-4" wide, and weigh 1-1.5lbs. Light orange flesh. Acquired by SSE from Merlyn and Mary Ann Niedens (IL NI M) in 2001 through the SSE Yearbook Exchange. The Niedens offered this variety from 1996-2009. According to most commercial sources, this variety was developed by the Niedens from a cross of the Kansas and Jenny Lind melons.
