AKA 'Black Crimea', 'Black Crimean', 'Noire de Crimée', and Noire de Krimée'. Indeterminate. Fist size, flattened, lobed 12 oz round fruit is violet-brown and purple-red with green shoulders; seeds have a green gel coating, making the fruit darker inside than out. Juicy. An heirloom from the Crimean Peninsula in Ukraine. It was first made available in the United States through the Seeds Savers Exchange in their 1990 yearbook by seed saver, Lars Olov Rosenstrom of Bronna, Sweden. He commented that in his location, the fruit turned black in his heated greenhouse as opposed to the brownish-purple coloration that they exhibit when grown outdoors. An intense flavor with sweet and acid notes; their taste is often described as slightly salty. 80 days.
