Green deer's tongue. Compact plants with triangular, drooping leaves. Good eating qualities. Inner leaves sweet, tender, crisp and juicy. Outer leaves fairly tough and slightly bitter. Leaves measure 7-9" long by 5-6" wide at market maturity. Plants reach 8-9" tall by 9-11 wide. Black seeded. Uniform plants. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by Jim Tjepkema (MN TJ J) who obtained the variety in 1988 from Michael Tarricone (NY TA M). Tarricone indicated he acquired it from "old man Baart."
