WINTER
White, turnip-shaped roots with green shoulders. Winter radish, but grows well in spring. Roots mostly buried in the soil. Roots grow to 3-5" long, 3.5-4.5" wide, and weigh 1lb or more, but taste better when smaller. Larger roots tend to be woody and pithy. White flesh color. Highly pungent and a bit bitter, but roots are juicy and crunchy. Brix score: 4.4. Long, green leaves are highly lobed. Plants reach 1.5-2ft tall and 2-3ft wide. Donated to SSE by David Cavagnaro (IA CA D) who acquired this variety from a source in Moscow. SSE Accession # 118716
