Brussler Witloof

Single Image
VEGETABLES / CHICORY-RADICCHIO
This is a Belgian endive (witloof). It has green, lanceolate leaves that are blistered and have prominent teeth. They are upright, green, and have light green midribs. The leaves can be harvested for greens and then roots can be dug in the fall and stored in a root cellar. It will then produce a blanched head in the winter. SSE acquired this accession from the Leibniz-Institut für Pflzanzengenetik und Kulturpflanzenforschung (IPK gene bank) in Gatersleben, Germany during the 1990s. SSE Accession # 107708
