Purple Rain

Tall, bushy plants growing 2.5-4'. Numerous prickles on main stem, pedicels and calyx. Greenish-purple main stem and pedicels, green leaves. Pubescent, dull leaves with a few prickles and intermediate lobing. Purple flowers, born in clusters of 1-4. Elongated, slightly curved, purple fruit with a few white stripes. Born singly. Market mature fruit average 6.3" long, 2.8" wide and 10.1 oz. Fruit become yellow with brown stripes at seed maturity. Standard productivity. Mid-season maturing. Donated to SSE by Mary Ann Fox (IN FO M) who got the variety from CV Bu2 in 1999. SSE Accession # 109630
