Arlington White Spine

Dark green, glossy, slicing cucumber with pale green stripes at the blossom end. Fruit are straight with white spines on prominent bumps. Pale green to white flesh. Market mature fruit 5-7" long and 1.4-2.3" wide. Standard flavor; not bitter; average skin thickness; less crisp texture. Yellow-green seed mature fruit, 7-9" long and 2.6-3.0" wide. Mid-season maturing. Matches historical commercial descriptions of the same or similar names. Given to SSE in the mid 2000s by Maria Elhardt (CA EL M) who got this variety from the Eastern Native Seed Conservancy (CV Ea4). A variety named 'Arlington' dates to at least 1886 in the U.S. when it was offered by the D.M. Ferry Seed Co. SSE Accession # 109451
