Listed as a bush bean, but more of a half-runner. About 15 inches tall with runners up to 5 feet. Flowers white. Pods 3-4 inches long, half inch wide. 6-7 seeds per pod. Productive. Seeds tan to light brown with darker brown mottling. About the size of a pinto. 85 days. During the winter of 1830-1831, a Kickapoo elder gave seeds of this bean to Valentine Darnall, an early settler in Livingston County, Illinois. Marty Travis, Darnall's 4th great-grandson, continues to grow the beans on the same farm near Fairbury, IL and shared them with SSE in 2010. SSE Accession # 129326
