Pole bean, vigorous with a strong climbing tendency. White flowers. Green pods develop light red blush at maturity. Straight, round pods have pronounced constriction between seeds and a long beak. Fully developed pods average 6" long by 1/2" wide. Leathery dry pods. Shelling or dry bean. Excellent horticultural bean with sweet flavor and meaty, moist flesh. A staff favorite as a dry bean with an excellent, sweet flavor and smooth texture. Ideal for use as a baking bean. Dark red kidney bean. Early maturing. Donated to SSE in 1992 by John Inabnitt (KY IN J). This variety was grown by John's aunt since the 1930s when her mother (John's grandmother) passed away. John's Grandmother originally received this variety from Alice Whitis of Acorn, Kentucky. SSE Accession # 103647
