Loose leaf. Slight butterhead tendency. Dark green, round leaves with a slight red tinge at tips. Undulating leaf margin and moderate surface blistering. Largest leaves average 6" long by 6.7" wide. Standard eating qualities. Crisp texture, moderately bitter. White seeded. Donated to SSE by Mrs. Floyd Ream who obtained the variety from an elderly man in Kentucky in about 1960. Originally brought to the U.S. from Italy circa 1940. SSE Accession # 111434
