Virginia before 1817. Taken from Virginia to Delaware were it was named after a family in that area. Medium size fruit, deep red color, course crisp moderately juicy yellow flesh. Aromatic sweet. Good when eaten fresh, but primarily known as a cider apple. Moderately vigorous open and spreading. Good disease resistance. Bears annually here but can become biennial. Ripens Oct. Keeps until May. 2 scions available.
