Cushaw, Winter

Large, necked cushaw with green stripes over a cream colored background. Some variability in neck curvature. Smooth rind. Fruit measure 15-18" long, 8-9" across at the base, and 9-16lbs. Flesh is a pale orange, 1-1.5" thick. Good flavor, slightly bitter aftertaste. Not very sweet. High moisture content. Seeds are commonly eaten. Brix measured 5.1. Dry matter content: 15.7%. Cucurbita argyrosperma. Requires a long season. Fruit do not store well. SSE Accession # 119738
