VEGETABLES / BEAN
DRY-POLE
Pole/dry. Great smoky flavor, meaty and creamy texture. Good for baked beans or used in soups. Strongly vining plants have large green leaves and white flowers with pink blotch on standard. Immature pods are green and slightly curved, 2-4 pods per raceme. 6-8 seeds per pod. Fully expanded pods measure 7.2-8.4" long and 0.7-0.8" wide. Mature pods are light yellow. Beautiful large oval seeds are white with a tan and maroon dash pattern around the eye. This variety has the unusual habit to send out new growth towards the end of the season. Moderately low productivity when grown under high disease pressure at Heritage Farm in 2018. Dry pods in the beginning of August in the 2018 planting. Don Kellums (IL KE D) shared this variety with SSE in the mid 1990s and said it's a very good soup bean. SSE Accession # 104196
