VEGETABLES / BEAN
SNAP-POLE
This is a pole bean best eaten at the snap stage. The pods are small, green, and curved. It is a sweet bean with a very weak suture string. The pods are 4-4.5" long. The dry beans are small cuboid shaped beans with a tan/buff background and a brown mottled pattern. They have an average flavor when eaten at the dry stage and were 45% hard seeded. This is a very late maturing variety. During the 2021 planting at Heritage Farm this was the last in the field to produce any edible pods. Donated to SSE by John Coykendall (TN CO J) who acquired this variety from the late, Elmer Franklin of Clarkrange, Tennessee. SSE Accession # 104358
