Blue Ridge

Small, round fruit with extensive, heavy netting. Green fruit becomes pale orange at maturity. Market mature fruit measure 3-5" long by 3-4.5" wide and weigh 0.75-1.75lbs. Thick, orange flesh with a very thin, green rind and small seed cavity. Good flavor and excellent texture. Smooth, firm, juicy flesh. Moderately sweet. Mid-season maturing. Given to SSE by Sandy Felkins (AR FE S) who introduced this variety into the 1998 SSE Yearbook Exchange. Felkins stated the variety was brought to Blue Ridge County, MO by ox & wagon in 1846 by her friend's great grandparents. SSE Accession # 113305
