Indistinctly striped fruit, light green base with green striping. Large, elongate shape, 8-13" long, 6-8.5" wide, and 5-15 lbs. Pink flesh. Very thick rind, 0.75-1.25" thick. Seeds white w/ tan tip. Moderately sweet; juicy; stringy flesh; soft texture; standard flavor. Mid-season maturity when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Rose McArthur (ID MC R) who obtained it from the Schochler family. This variety was developed by Joe Palmar Schochler during the 1920s in Cherokee County, Texas and he sold it commercially until circa 1948. SSE Accession # 128030
