FLOWERS / EVENING-PRIMROSE
Bright yellow flowers, which attract Bumblebees. This plant can grow to about 6’, and a width of about 3’. It can be managed by cutting the stems.
It does tend to attract aphids, but in general, specific to this plant. This means it attracts Aphid wasps, which are parasitic and VERY beneficial! They lay an egg in the aphid, the larva develops inside, killing the aphid. When the life cycle is complete, the adult wasp emerges. One can spot this because the dead aphid will be brown and look like a shell. This is why they’re referred to as “Aphid Mummy Wasps”. They will prey on other aphids, such as the Oleander, which are found on Asclepias (Milkweed). So I’d definitely recommend planting this!
