FRUITS-BERRIES-NUTS / APPLE
Organic Listing
Tree found growing on an old farm. I believe that this is the Early Joe apple but not one hundred percent certain. The Early Joe Apple originated in the orchard of Herman Chapin of East Bloomfield New York via seeds brought from Salisbury Connecticut around the year 1800. The fruit is small to medium in size, red to dark red purple with some striping and a bluish bloom (blue powdery coating) and sweet very juicy aromatic pear like flesh. The white flesh may be streaked with red and is slow to turn brown when cut. The fruit ripens over a long period of time, about one month, starting in August. The tree begins to bear early and seems to be disease free. This variety can be grown organically and produce usable apples without spraying. 4 pieces available.
