VEGETABLES / MELON
Inodorous melon. Fruit elliptical, 9-9.5" long and 5-5.5" wide, with thick, light orange flesh and a relatively small seed cavity; rind has netting and shows longitudinal cracking, and is yellow with green speckles when ripe. The melons do slip from the vine when ripe, though it takes some effort. The plants are moderately vining. Mid season maturing. Taste was affected by disease during the 2021 growout at Heritage Farm. Grown by Sarah Johnson for the 2021 Collection Documentation Project; she described the flavor as "very sweet and juicy, between a cantaloupe and honedew." She recommends growing the variety on a trellis because it needs lots of room, and reported that it is susceptible to squash bugs. SSE Accession # 112949
