VEGETABLES / SWISS-CHARD
Crimson stalks and leaf veins with dark green crumpled leaves. Bright red-orange roots. Leaves can reach up to 1.5' long, but stay only a few inches wide. Little pest or disease pressure. Pretty and easy to grow. Grown by Sydney Christensen in 2024 for the Collection Documentation Project; Sydney commented that it was narrower than Fordhook chard and while delicious and excellent in soups and stews, they were not sure they would choose this variety over another crimson chard. Acquired by SSE from Park Seed Co.; from Switzerland. SSE Accession # 121233
