Colossal Long Red Mangel

Fodder beet. Leaves and petioles green. Root buried. Single, elliptical shaped root with red skin. Avgs 3.6" long, 1.8" in diameter, 3.3oz. Flesh red with thick white rings. Tough when raw, subtle sweet flavor when cooked. Leaves bitter. Acquired by SSE from R.H. Shumway. SSE Accession # 106319
