Sucrette de Berry

Immature fruit is light green with dark green webbing. Matures to an orange color and is textured, but not ribbed, smooth, or very bumpy. Some fruits are tall, others short and rounded. Orange flesh with a bright green color close to the rind. Not dense or stringy. Large seed cavity. Flesh has a nice taste, but is not sweet. Matured shell is very sturdy and hard. Plants are slow to get started. Grown by Jamie Canning for the 2023 Collection Documentation Project; Jamie commented that the plants were stunted from excessive heat in Kingman, AZ, but once the weather cooled down the vines grew and produced.
