Portugese Silverskin

Single Image
VEGETABLES / ONION
COMMON
I first listed this variety with SSE in 2003 under the name of 'Silverskin'. Tessa Gowan, the owner of the original Abundant Life Seed Foundation informed me, about a year ago, that the correct name of this variety is 'Portuguese Silverskin'. Approximately 100 days to maturity, slightly flattened, medium size white globes, moderately pungent with good taste, keeps until mid-spring, no disease problems here in northeastern Illinois, long-day variety. Produces full-sized bulbs; not a pearl onion. From the original Abundant Life Seed Foundation, that beautiful heirloom seed company. It is sorely missed.
