Golden Gopher

Reticulatus type. Round fruit with light yellow, heavily corked/netted skin with slight ribbing. Market mature fruit measure about 5" long and wide and weigh up to 2.75 lbs. Orange thick flesh up to 1.5". Fairly thin rind about 0.25". Prostrate growing plants. Low productivity when grown in 2015 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Gail Cunningham (IA CU G). This variety was developed by the University of Minnesota and released in 1940. SSE Accession # 112896
